World Environment Day: Buzzing with Sustainability at Om Foundation School
Celebrating World Environment Day in advance with a buzz and a composting twist! We had an incredible day organizing Bee Keeping session for our Class 9th students and Vermicomposting session for our Class 8th students, thanks to the amazing support.
Beekeeping: Nurturing Nature's Pollinators
Our Class 9 students delved into the fascinating world of beekeeping, learning about the vital role bees play in pollination and maintaining biodiversity. They explored the intricacies of hive management, honey production, and the environmental significance of protecting these essential pollinators. This hands-on experience not only educated them about apiculture but also instilled a deeper appreciation for the delicate balance of our ecosystems.
Vermicomposting: Turning Waste into Wealth
Simultaneously, our Class 8 students engaged in a vermicomposting session, discovering how organic waste can be transformed into nutrient-rich compost using earthworms. They learned about the process of setting up and maintaining a worm bin, understanding the importance of waste segregation and sustainable practices in daily life. This activity emphasized the value of recycling organic matter and its impact on soil health and plant growth.
Embracing the Theme: Land Restoration and Drought Resilience
Aligning with the 2025 World Environment Day theme of "Land Restoration, Desertification and Drought Resilience," our initiatives aimed to educate students on sustainable practices that contribute to land health and resilience against environmental challenges. By engaging in beekeeping and vermicomposting, students gained practical insights into restoring and preserving our natural resources.
